Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly organised Band 4 Medical Secretary (37.5 hours per week, permanent) to join our friendly South Mersey CMHT. We are seeking an experienced secretary with a can-do attitude who enjoys working in a team and demonstrates a commitment to delivering high quality administration support in an efficient and timely manner.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have a broad range of administration and secretarial experience, being able to work with initiative and sometimes under pressure.

The post-holder will work as part of a dynamic team supporting consultants, clinicians and team managers in the smooth running of the CMHT service.

The successful applicant will work directly with the consultant and his team, providing secretarial duties and co-ordinate and facilitate the dissemination of information to and from the team and be required to deal efficiently, precisely and courteously with telephone calls from service users as well as health professionals.

Person Specification



  • 5 GCSE’s Levels A-C or 9-4, including Maths and English Language
  • GCSE in IT or equivalent experience


  • Medical Secretary qualification



  • Competent in Microsoft Packages.
  • Evidence good team working skills
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Be confident in using own initiative.


  • Experience of working in patient administration background and EPR Systems
  • Have previous secretarial experience.
